There is a flurry of activity at the Prefab Beton site along the Westkanaaldijk in Utrecht. A giant crane is lifting a new concrete mixer into one of the buildings. The installation activities at the site consist of lifting and assembling this new mixer. The mixer is fed from the existing supply lines from the silos and bunkers of ingredients, and operated by means of its onboard computer system. According to the schedule, the entire system should be operational in early October. Concrete production at Prefab Beton will then once again be ready for the growth and requirements of the coming ten years.
This year, Prefab Beton is investing in increasing the concrete mixer’s capacity. Prefab Beton has always had its own mixing equipment for the production of the many types of concrete units. However, the development of more high-quality concrete types made it increasingly difficult to provide this level of diversity with a single mixer. Hence the decision to acquire an additional mixer.

The addition of a second mixer increases the flexibility of the production process, expands the total capacity, and offers additional possibilities with regard to special mixtures.
