Sound barriers on the A73 motorway, road section B at Venlo
As part of the project involving the construction of road section B of the A73 motorway in Venlo, Strukton Infratechnieken was contracted by the Strukton-Mourik vof construction partnership to develop the design and construction of the sound barriers along the new A73 motorway.
The project comprises a total of nine sound barriers, three of which will be all concrete and six of which will feature a transparent superstructure (PMMA). Five of these screens will be equipped with an all-concrete base. One screen will feature a base of steel drilled-in caissons in order to ensure that nearby buildings will not be inconvenienced by vibrations and construction noise.
The concrete screens range from 1.0 metres to 5.5 metres in height above ground level, and have a total length of approximately 1,940 metres. The concrete screens are equipped with cover joints and have a 13-degree backwards angle. The transparent screens range from 1.0 metres to 5.0 metres in height above ground level, and have a total height of approximately 1,400 metres. These screens also have a backwards angle, but of 10 degrees rather than 13.
