Oldehoofsterkerkhof Parking Garage

The construction partnership between Strukton, Hegeman and GTI (SHG) was contracted by the City of Leeuwarden to construct an underground car park at Oldehoofsterkerkhof.

The partnership’s construction plan was based on maintaining as many parking spaces as possible during construction and making the new parking spaces available as soon as possible. Key priorities were maintaining traffic circulation and continued accessibility of the area, shops, restaurants, etc. The construction of the car park was performed in phases by means of division of the circular cofferdam into four parts, thereby ensuring that parking spaces were available at all times, maintaining traffic flow, and enabling a section of the car park to be made operational at an earlier stage.

The car park is comprised of two layers and has a minimum capacity of 525 cars. The entrance and exit of the car park are located in the parking ring (Boterhoek) near Tresoar. The car park provides one-way access, meaning that traffic can only enter and exit the car park from the west side.
