Commissioned by the Delfland Water Board, Delfluent, a consortium of seven companies, will construct one of the largest wastewater purification plants in Europe over the next few years, as well as renovating an existing wastewater purification facility in The Hague. Once the work has been completed, Delfluent will manage both plants. Construction of the facilities began in early 2004, and both projects are scheduled to be completed in mid-2009. Delfluent will remain responsible for management until 2033.
Harnaschpolder
Harnaschpolder will be a classic yet environmentally friendly facility. The new plant is needed in order to provide a solution for the rapidly increasing number of homes and businesses in the area. The wastewater purification facility will be surrounded by a landscaped walking area.
Houtrust
The current water purification plant on Houtrustweg in The Hague is obsolete. In early 2007, Delfluent began renovating the plant. These activities will take up to a year to complete, after which the purification plant will have a capacity of 13,900 cubic metres of wastewater per hour.
