Land in Zicht (Schoterbrug)

The plan for ‘Land in Zicht’ involves a new bridge across the river Spaarne, as well as the redevelopment of the yacht basin area. The arrival of the new link will ensure greater and more direct accessibility to the Waarderpolder industrial estate for cars and bicycles.

The bridge is 260 metres long and 20 metres wide. The new link between the yacht basin and the Waarderpolder industrial estate will feature a single, dual-direction cycle path with footpaths on either side. The bridge, which marks the entrance to the city, is equipped with brick bastions – a nod to the ancient city bridge. The bridge is high enough to provide easy access to shipping vessels, and also includes a movable component.

The redevelopment of the yacht basin area comprises the construction of approximately 136 homes in various price ranges and 204 parking spaces, in compliance with the parking standards imposed by the City of Haarlem. Furthermore, the plan provides for new sites for the Haarlem Yachting Club, the local angling club and the Kon Tiki scouting group.

Execution of the project will start in 2007, and the bridge is scheduled to be completed during the first half of 2009. The homes are scheduled for completion during 2009 and 2010, while the (temporary) premises of the various clubs will be arranged in consultation.
